Using industry recognised professional software, primarily Solidworks Electrical, we can design control systems and panels for use in standard working areas and controlled working areas including hazardous and extreme environments, working to ATEX and IECEx standards.
Our in-house team of electrical engineers has experience of working in a multitude of different industries and in designing a wide variety of electrical equipment including, but not limited to:
- Motor starters, including soft starters and variable speed drives
- Data acquisition and logging
- Sophisticated control loops for pressure, temperature, level, and flow
- Software platforms such as Labview, Eurotherm itools, and Siemens Simatic S7
Conceptual Design & Feasibility Studies
Our engineers will work with you to establish software and communication networks for your plant design as well as power requirements and process I/O. We will work with you to establish the system’s functional requirements and define how these may be achieved, including the selection of an appropriate platform to obtain the desired results. Wherever possible we utilise commercially-available technology to ensure any system design is as ‘future proof’ as possible. In cases where commercially-available technology cannot meet the requirements, we are able to design bespoke systems and manage their implementation.
Front End Engineering Design
Having established the feasibility of the project and its conceptual design, we will produce a Front End Control System Design package for your plant. A Functional Software Design Specification and a draft Factory/Site Acceptance Test schedule are typically produced and would be integrated with the safety reviews and HAZOP studies.
Detailed Design, Build & Commissioning
The detailed design comprises control panel wiring drawings, loop diagrams termination drawings, cable I/O schedules and B.O.M’s. Software and drivers might also need to be developed, with the whole design package being formally reviewed before manufacture commences.
We would then realise the design by building control panels, running cables and installing measurement, control and electrical items on the plant or equipment. The installation will meet the appropriate electrical standards (for example BS7671: 2008 (2015 – Amendment 3) – 17th Edition of the Wiring Regulations) and the work is project managed to achieve expedient and safe completion. Both hardware and software would be witness tested to an agreed Factory/Site Acceptance Test schedule.
