Strata Products
Multi-zone Reactor
Strata makes and sells our own reactor design based on many years experience in building,
running and maintaining reactor systems.
Features include:
- Multi-zone heating and control
- Temperature control to 550 °C
- Multiple temperature outputs
- Swagelok stainless steel 1/2" VCR fittings top and bottom
- Typical Dimensions:
- End-to-End Length = 720 mm
- Heated Reactor Zone Length = 500 mm
- Insulated Diameter = 160 mm
- Reactor volume = 36 cubic centimetres
The reactor is sold with a Strata designed control box and high temperature/pressure
configurations are available.

Product Recovery Unit
Product recovery systems are often overlooked during the reactor design phase. Strata's product
recovery system is usually purchased in conjunction with the Multi-zone Reactor. The
design allows for
multiple volume collection vessels with a standard connection head.

Rocking Hydrates Unit
Hydrate formation in natural gas pipelines can be a major problem for the oil and gas industry.
When natural gas and water are mixed and subjected to high pressures and low
temperatures, an ice-like formation can be generated spontaneously. If this
transformation occurs the pipelines can block leading to drastic consequences.
The Rocking Hydrates unit developed by Strata gives researchers the ability to test
inhibitors that prevent the formation of gas hydrates under different conditions similar
to those found in working pipelines.
Features include:
- Corrosion-resistant process-wetted parts
- Variable rocking rate
- Operating pressure to 200 barG
- Operating temperature typically at 4 °C but a range of temperatures possible
- Temperature measurement to ±0.5 °C
- Sapphire cells allow observation of hydrate formation
- Motion sensors to detect agglomeration

Ionic Liquids Reactors
Ionic liquids are liquids that show great promise as designer solvents for the chemical industry.
As one of the founding members of the internationally recognised
QUILL consortium, we have a number of years' experience
in the design, build and maintenance of reactor systems for ionic liquids research.
